Double Yarn Toddler Hat

So I've tried everything I know to get this picture to rotate and can't figure it out! My apologies for the sideways picture! I made this hat this afternoon...it's quick, easy and oh-so cute!! It'll be great for our cold midwest weather that is quickly approaching! I'm very excited to share this new pattern with everyone and hope you enjoy it too!!

Supplies:
Two coordinating colors of worsted weight yarn (I used the I Love Cotton brand)
J hook
Yarn needle (for weaving ends in)

Abbreviations:
Ch – chain
Hdc – half double crochet
Dc – double crochet
Instructions:

Round 1: Using both colors together, Magic Ring, ch 2. 10 hdc inside ring.  Pull ring tight.  Join to the top ch of ch 2.
Round 2: Ch 2, 1 hdc in same stitch, then *1 hdc in next stitch, 2 hdc in the next stitch*. Repeat from * around. Join to the top ch of ch 2.
Round 3: Ch 2, 1 hdc in same stitch, then *1 hdc in next 2 stitches, 2 hdc in the next stitch*. Repeat from * around. Join to the top ch of ch 2.
Round 4: Ch 2, 1 hdc in same stitch, then *1 hdc in next 3 stitches, 2 hdc in the next stitch*. Repeat from * around. Join to the top ch of ch 2.
Round 5: Ch 2, 1 hdc in same stitch, then *1 hdc in next 4 stitches, 2 hdc in the next stitch*. Repeat from * around. Join to the top ch of ch 2.
Round 6: Ch 2, 1 hdc in same stitch, then *1 hdc in next 5 stitches, 2 hdc in the next stitch*. Repeat from * around. Join to the top ch of ch 2.
Round 7-12: Ch 2, 1 hdc in each stitch. Join to the top ch of ch 2.
Round 13: Take 1 color (I used the lighter color first), Ch 3, 1 dc in each stitch around. Join to the top ch of ch 3. Fasten off and weave in ends
Round 14: Take second color. Ch 2, 1 hdc in each stitch around. Join to the top of ch 2. Fasten off and weave in ends.

This hat could easily be made bigger or smaller by cutting out rows 3-5 (depending on what size you would like) or adding a few more increase rows after round 6.

Hope you enjoy this hat! I'd love to hear what you think or see pictures of what you made with this pattern!!

Happy Hooking,

Libby

  1. This is probably 2T-3T. I made one for my 4 year old and just added one more row before doing the single yarn rows and it fit perfectly! Add or take out a few rows to make bigger or smaller!
